COUNTY COMPETITIONS. SEVERAL CENTURIES SCORED. CAMBRIDGE FRESMMAN’S RECORD. LONDON, May 20. The English county cricket competitions were continued, the results being as follows: — Yorkshire v. Essex.—Yorkshire: First innings, 280 (Olroyd 143 not out) ; second innings, 203 for three wickets, declared (Sutcliffe 108 not out). ? Essex: First innings, 231. (Pope §3, Russell 68); second innings,•« "130 (Macaulay took four lickets for 18 runs). Yorkshire won by 132 runs.

Kent v. Nottingham.—Kent: First innings, 212 (Larwood took five wickets for 34 runs) ; second innings, 158 (Woolley 61, Amos 62; Larwood took five wickets for 34). Nottingham: First innings. 467 for seven wickets, declared (George Gunn 129, Walker 75, Barratt 65 not out). Nottingham won by an innings and 97 runs.

Somerset v. Surrey.—Somerset: First innings, 195 (Gover took four wickets for 55 runs) ; second innings, 314 for nine wickets, declared (Longl'igg. 81, White 79). Surrey: First innings, 177 (Shepherd 85; White took five wickets for 34 runs); second innings, 197 for six wickets. • Somerset won on the first innings.

Leicester v. Sussex.—Leicester: First, innings, 371 ('Berry 232, Armstrong 68). Sussex: First innings, 214 (Parks 67; Smith took four wickets for 42 runs) ; following on, Sussex made 207 for five wickets (Longridge 86 not-out). Leicester won on the first innings.

Northampton v. ( Lancashire. — Northampton: First innings, 190; second innings, 208 (Sibbles took four wickets for 46 runs). Lancashire: First innings, 238 (Hopwood 119; Cox look five wickets for 24 runs); second innings, 161 for eight wickets. Lancashire won by two wickets.

Oxford v. Gloucester. Oxford: First innings, ' 374 (Melville 60, Pat'oudi 102, • Bradshaw 81), second innings, 243. , Gloucester: First innings, 627 for two wickets (Moore 206, Dipper 81, Hammond 211 not out, Dacre 100 not out. Gloucester won by an innings and ten runs.
