TCSTFIELD MARKET. QUALITY UP TO STANDARD. VALUES VERY FIRM. (Special to Times). AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Messrs A- Buckland and Sons report: At the weekly Westfield market the beef peng contained 330 head (195 steers, and 135 cows and' heifers), compared with 428 last week. The quality was well up to standard. Competition was keen and values very firm. Extra choice ox sold to 37s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 34s 6d to 36s 6d, secondary and plain 33s to 345; prime young cow and heifer beef, 30s to 335; secondary, 23s to 295. Extra heavy prime steers ranged from £ls 10s to £l6 7s 6d, heavy £l4 10s to £ls 7s 6d, lighter £l3 to £l4 7s 6d, light £ll 10s to £ls 7s 6d, lighter £l3 to £l4 7s 6d, light £ll 10s to £l2 17s 6d; small and unfinished £9 10s to £ll 7s 6d, extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £lO 15s to £ll 10s, heavy £9 to £lO 12s 6d, lighter £7 to £8 17s 6d, other killable cows £4 10s to £6 17s 6d. The demand was strong and last week’s values again ruled. Extra choice ox sold to 37s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 35s to 36s 6d; secondary and plain, 32s to 345; prime young cow and heifer beef, 32s to 355; ordinary cow beef, 25s to 31s. Heavy prime steers made £l4 15s to £l4 17s 6d; lighter prime steers, £l4 to £l4 10s; light prime steers. £l2 15s to £l3 10s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £ll to £l2 10s; heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 to £lO 12s 6d; lighter prime cows and heifers, £7 5s to £8 15s; other killable cows, £6 to £7."
