GLEN MASSEY* CLUB. OPENING OF SEASON. Fine .weather prevailed for the official opening of the Glen Massey Golf Club. A very large number of members was present and there were visiting golfers from Waharoa, Walton,, Huntly, Taupirl, and Ngaruawahia. _ , The president, Mr S. Davies, welcomed the viistors and members, and expressed the hope that all would have an enjoyable afternoon. He then declared the links open. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the Ladies’ Committee. Great credit for the success of the function is due to the secretaries, Mr F. Mills and Mrs P. Crawford.

The mixed foursomes was won by Mr and Mrs Burney, and the putting competition by Mrs Petit and Mr A. ,Conne\y.

RECORD ROUND AT OPOTIKI. OPOTIKI, Monday. A fresh record for the nine-hole course was made by D. S. Morris, captain of tho Opotiki Club, when playing a friendly game against H. Tidmarsh, of Auckland. ' He did the round in 31, his card reading, 4,3, 2,4, 4,3, 4,4, 3. Bogey for the course is 35. The previous record was 33.
