TATTERSALL’S RACE MEETING.
SYDNEY, May 18
At Tattersall’s race meeting at Randwick yesterday the chief interest centred in the hurdle race, about two miles, which resulted: Anorieht, 11.12 (Fruend), 1; Somnolent, 9.5, 2; Kinross, 10.11, 3. Eleven started. Won by a neck, third horse a neck away. Paul T was last. Time, 3.38 i. The James Barnes’ Stakes, 1 mile 3 fur, resulted: New Sweet, 7.7 (Pratt), i; Gwillian G, 8.7, and Troilus, 8.6, dead heat, 2. Six started. Won by a head. Time, 2.20£. THE KENTUCKY DERBY. NEW YORK, May US At Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky, Mr William Woodward’s Gallant Fox, with Sande up, won the Derby (li miles), by two lengths from the Audley Farm’s Gallant Knight. Fifteen started. The race was run in rain. Time, 2.7 3-5. TURF IN ENGLAND. LONDON, May 17. The Great Jubilee Handicap resulted: Lucky Tor, 1; Aix Wheeler, 2; Lion Hearted, 3. Fifteen started. Won by a length.
