RAID ON SALT DEPOT. / SCUFFLES WITH THE POLICE. ROUNDING UP AGITATORS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. DELHI, May 17A large number of Indian National Congress volunteers who had been waiting for some time to raid the salt depot at Dharasna, near Bombay, eluded the police guards at noon yesterday and rushed toward the salt pans. Nine of the volunteers were injured in an ensuing scuffle. Several volunteers commanded by Mrs Naidu were removed bodily by the police after having lain oh the road for 28 hours. Following upon the bombing of certain - villages on the Mahmand border by members of the Air Force and a round-up of agitators by troops and police the situation on the northwest frontier now is reported to be improving. Revolutionary gangs, known as “Red Shirts,” are showing considerable activity in cutting barbed wire in front of British posts at night. Several Congress leaders were arrested at Koha Bannu and at Thai, where troops were called out to deal with a threatening mob.
