OBITUARY.
IVIR F. HENWOOD. The death is announced of Mr Frederick Henwood, who was bom in New Plymouth in 1855. He was the seventh child of William and Ann Henwood, who were among the pioneer settlers in Taranaki. Mr Henwood’s parents were natives of Cornwall, England. His sister was the first, white female child born in New Plymouth. He was married at Wanganui on October 2,, 1878, to Caroline, daughter of William Lister, of Wanganui. As a young man Mr Henwood was a carpenter by trade, but usually followed the occupation of bridge builder. He worked on- the contraction of bridges from New Plymouth to Palmerston North, also on the Manawatu railway bridges. During that time he selected a bush farm at Eltham. Later he acquired a farm at Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. About 25 years ago he moved to the Waikato, and has farmed at Horotiu ever since. On October 2, 1928, Mr and Mrs Henwood celebrated their golden wedding at Te Rapa. He leaves a widow and seven children, viz., Mr Francis Henwood, of Horotiu; Mr Herbert Henwood, of Waerenga; Mesdames Charles Hinton, Waiterimu; Alexander Johnstone, of Horotiu; James .1. Hinton, Te Rapa; William A. Forsyth, Ohaupo; Te Rapa.
