Fine weather prevails. Owing to the high wind the parachute descent was forbidden by the Director of Air Services, much to the disappointment of the public, who had counted on this event. There was only one mishap during tile afternoon. Captain Buckley, taking part in a heat of the Aerial Derby, was forced down on one of the islands of the Manukau, not far from the entrance of the aerodrome. He had petrol taken out to him, and with the aid of a couple of mechanics the machine was hauled back a bit, and with only a run of 30 yards he made a perfect take-off, and was soon back at the aerodrome, ready for further events.

Admiral Byrd was expected to arrive with Mr Chichester, but he did not put in an appearance.
