FRANKTON SCHOOL.

ENJOYABLE PICNIC. A TRIP TO TE AROHA. The annual picnic of the Frankton school was attended with marked success. A special train left ' Frankton station with nearly 400 pupils and parents for a pleasurable day’s outing to Herr.ies Park, Te Arolia. The weather was ail that could be desired for such an occasion, bright sunshine prevailing all day. On arriving at the park, which is an ideal place for a picnic, refreshments were served. After lunch some visited the Domain grounds to test the mineral waters, while the swimming baths came in for a big share of patronage. The climbing of Bald Spur was undertaken by a good number. Tribute to IVIr Frederic. At the conclusion of the distribution of sports prizes, Mr Kilham in a brief speech thanked the parents for their support in helping to make the picnic a success by their presence. There was, however, one thing he regretted to say, and that was, Mr Frederic, the chairman of the school committee was vacating his position. Mr Frederic had devoted much of his time, and taken a very keen interest in the well are of the schoot and pupils. In reply, Mr Frederic thanked the previous speaker for his kind remarks. He said that what he had done for the interest of the school had been a pleasure to him. There was no need to thank him alone as it was principally due to the line co-operation of the other committeemen.
