A PLEASANT FUNCTION
A.S.R.S. GATHERING. W. DAVIS FAREWELLED. At a social gathering of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants on Saturday night opportunity was taken to offer felicitations to Mr. W. Davis, surfaceman, on the 'Occasion of his retirement from the Department on ■superannuation. Mr. J. Churchouse, President, and Mr. L. Mcllvride, general secretary of the society, the speakers for the evening paid a tribute to Air. Davis as one of the pioneers of the society and wished him health and success in his retirement, and on behalf of members presented him with a travelling rug and the diploma of tile society. Air. J. 11. Robinson, was elected chairman of the local branch for the ensuing year and Air. P. Johnson reappointed seretary for a further term. Air. G. Reese was elected to the position ol' vice-president. Alessrs. A. Bradley and P. Gavin, of the National Executive of the A.S.R.S. were also present.
