SHOPLIFTING CHARGE
WOMAN CONVICTED. , AUCKLAND, Sunday. Two charges of shop-lifting from stores in Karangahape Road were preferred against Rebecca Gannon, aged 49, married. Accused, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 21 days’ imprisonment on a charge of stealing a dress valued at £2 19s 6d from one shop, and_ was convicted and discharged for .stealing a skirt valued at 17s 6d from another shop. Husband Killed. Thomas Gannon, 51, died from injuries sustained while attempting to stop a tramcar on Saturday night preparatory to boarding it, Deceased was the husband of Rebecca Gannon, the woman owning a motor-car, who was sent to gaol for 21 days on Saturday by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., for shoplifting.
