SWIMMING SPORTS
MATAMATA CLUB. CARNIVAL AT OKAUIA. A swimming carnival, under the auspices of the Matamata District Swimming and Life-saving Club, was held in the Opal Bath, Okauia, on Thursday evening. There were about 500 people present, and, beside the local 'swimmers, competitors were present from Hamilton, Cambridge and Morrinsville. The events were got off well up lo time and the officials were congratulated on their conduct of the sports by the visitors. Following are the results of the events: — 33 1-3 Boys’ Handicap.—First heat: H. Douglas i, F/ Pickett 2. Time, heat: F. Pickett 1, K. Gardiner 2; final: M. Douglas i, F. Pickett 2. Time, 25 3-ssecs. Girls’ 33 1-3 Handicap.—Miss B. Jackson 1, Miss N. Coombe 2. Neat Dive, boys.—K. Gardiner 1; girls, Miss B. Jackson 1. 50 Yards Ladies’ Handicap.—Miss A. Yardley 1, Miss N. Coombe 2. Men’s 50 Yards Handicap.—First heat: C. d’Auvergne 1, C. Farquhar 2; second beat: W. Cameron 1, Mcllwraitli 2; third heat: L. Denz 1, P. Ross 2; fourth heat: S. Gardiner 1, S- Speight 2; fifth heat: Barker 1, Higgins 2; sixth heat: Ensor 1, Robben 2; final: Denz 1, Ensor 2. Time, 32 i-ssecs. Men’s 66 2-3 Yards Handicap.— First heat: Ensor 1.
