Continuing the debate on the Referendum Bill, Mr Hughes supported the Government’s appeal for wider powers, but attacked the proposal to empower Parliament to alter the constitution at will. A Bill was introduced providing for the payment of a bounty on cotton seed lint yarn. The Acting-Minister of Customs expressed the opinion that the industry will be able to stand unaided six years lienee. A Bill to establish a central reserve bank, the objects of which include further assistance .to primary and secondary industries, will be introduced. on Tuesday.
