Haynes, who was Australia's commercial representative in Canada, was recalled and subsequently resigned. The Minister said Mr S. McKay, of the Sunshine Harvester Works, hail decried Australia in Canada, and helped to damage her credit and good name abroad. It was expected that Mr Haynes would have protected Australia against such damaging slaLcmenls, but lie had associated himself with Mr McKay’s remarks, and repeated them at a public gathering in Canada.
