Ilavcn-ga, in his Budget speech, said he hoped to meet the balance deficit of £425,000 by rigid administrative economics. The wheat and Hour duties would be increased by Od and 8d respectively, to enable African farmers to compete successfully against imports from Auslralia. Although an immediate heavy reduction in the receipts from diamond sources is inevitable, the Minister anticipates an early recovery, as the result of the arrangement recently reached with the producers.
