GREAT SOUTH ROAD
WORK BEING PUSHED ON. EARLY SURFACING UNLIKELY. Although the Waipa County Council is pushing on with the roadside drainage and correcting alignments, on the Great South Road between Hamilton and Ngaruawahia, there is little prospect of the bitumen surfacing being commenced even next summer, according to (he county engineer, Mr •L W. Civil, at the meeting of’ the Waipa County Council yesterday. A great amount of preliminary work had to bo done, and next summer the machinery, bitumen and metal would have to be collected in readiness for handling actual surfacing work.
