AUSTRALIAN DAIRYMEN

IMPRESSED WITH VISIT. “A WONDERFUL TItVIE.” PRESENT TO MR GOODFELLOW. The party of 60 Australian dairymen which toured the North Island for eleven days under the auspices of Amalgamated Dairies, Ltd., terminated its tour at Wellington, when the bulk of the delegates left on their return to Sydney by the Ulimaroa. “It. has been a wonderful time," said Mr G. S. Stening, leader of the party, ot a “Dominion" reporter. "We have travelled 1100 miles by car and 100 miles by rail, and seen in the short space of eleven days not only the main farming districts of the North Island, hut also the scenic beauties and charms of the thermal regions and Mount Egmont. Quite apart from the dairying aspect of our* trip, the tour will have been abundantly worth while for New Zealand, as every member of the delegation will be a walking advertisement for the country for years to conic. • All members of the delegation are overwhelmed by the hospitality which lias been extended to us, and tlic organising genius shown in handling the party. New Zealand is a wonderful country, with amazing pastures supremely blessed for dairying purposes, and we shall leave with a marked impression of abundant prosperity in this favoured land." Prior to sailing, the whole delegation gathered at the Empire Hotel, to present to Mr W. Goodfellow a handsome Maori clock and a letter of appreciation as mementoes of the visit to New Zealand. In making the presentation. Mr Stening said that it was impossible to adequately express the appreciation felt by the delegation for the wonderful time given them by Mr Goodfellow and his associated officers. The organisation of the tour had been marvellous, not one single hitch having been experienced. Every effort had been made to give them the fullest possible information. Mr Goodfellow had impressed himself upon their memories by his unique attainments. The visit unquestionably would do an immense amount of good in cementing the interests of Australia and New Zealand together. Mr Goodfellow, in replying, transferred I lie credit for the detailed organisation to hi.s associated directors and staff, lie himself having planned only the broad outlines. They had been glad to do all they could for the Australians, and he thought it was simply returning past favours which bad been extended to himself and other New Zealanders. A handsome cigarette case, suitably inscribed, was presented to Mr F. Allan Murcroft, of Amalgamated Dairies. who was responsible for detailed ni ganisalioii in connection with the lour.
