SAVE THE MOTHERS.

CAMPAIGN COMMENCES. WHAT aw HAMILTON DO?, The local campaign towards the £25,000 constituting the New Zealand Obstetrical Society’s Endowment Fund appeal commenced to-day. £7500 is needed from Auckland province, of which at least £SOO is Hamilton’s •quota. A willing band of helpers started on their voluntarily accepted tasks early this morning, and will continue until the end of the month, when the fund closes. Sub-commit-tees have been appointed - for every part of Hamilton, and Mr Matthew Henry will work the outside districts near the town. New Plymouth raised £250 in a few days, while Marion, a town of less than 3000 inhabitants, raised £IOO in one afternoon, so Hamilton, with civic pride at stake, -should not fail. It is hard to conceive of a more worthy object for an appeal. The happiness and health of mothers, children, and homes are involved, and every penny subscribed will help towards placing the Dominion not as one of the “also starteds,” as Mr J. A. Young, M.P puts it, in the international table of maternal mortality but at the top, as in the case of infant, mortality. The Hamilton committee asks that all who have the interests of their country at heart, will subscribe to the fund. This is an appeal which will not. be made again. A subscription list has been opened at the office of the Waikato Times, where those who so wish may make their contributions.
