PROHIBITION OF BATHING.

(To the 'Editor.)

Sir, —The Memorial Park, of Hamilton affords excellent opportunity for the public to indulge in the healthy sport of swimming. To my surprise I find that the notice has been erected purporting to be by the authority of the Parks Committee, and stating that bathing is strictly prohibited. It seems an extraordinary thing that suoh should be the case, and I would like to know by what authority the notice has been erected, and whether there is any power to prohibit bathing in the river from the Memorial Parle bank. The public should be afforded every opportunity of indulging in swimming in our beautiful river.—l am, etc., WILLIAM THOMAS.
