MASONIC INSTALLATION
FUNCTION AT, NGARUAWAHIA. About 200 members of the Masonic fraternity were present at the installation of Brother 11. G. Thorpe as W.M. of Lodge Te Marama, 180, for the ensuing year. Lodges from as far north as Whangaroa and as far as Matamata .on the other side were represented. . The installing officer was V.W. Bro. Lionel Harvie, Asst. Prov. G.M., who was assisted by a strong body of Grand Lodge officers. Other officers duly invested by P.M.’s of the lodge were: 1.P.M., W. Bro. G. E. Hall; Deputy M., W. Bro. A. Brewer; S.W., Bro. G. Jamieson; J.W., Bro. W. G. B. Nicholls; D. of C., W. Bro. 11. D. Sampson, P.M.; Chaplain, Bro. G. O. Jones; treasurer, W. Bro. 11. Hyde; secretary, V.W. Bro. H. M. Thorpe, P.M.; assistant secretary, Bro. P. J. Webb; S.D., Bro. C. McCowan; J.D., Bro. H. Rogers; 1.G., Bro. Moore; Tyler, Bro. J. Diver; S.S., Bro. R. MacFarlane; J.S., Bro. W. B. Harold; assistant S.’s, Bros. Redpath, Foster and Walter. After the ceremony the brethren adjourned to the Town Hall, where a banquet was held and the customary toasts were honoured.
During the proceedings V.W. Bro. Lionel Harvie stated that he would shortly be giving up Masonic work, which had given him so much pleasure, as he had accepted the position of. rector of a parish in Adelaide.
