SENSATION AT A BALL. GUEST IN PYJAMAS. A friend in Newport, United States, writes by this weeks mail: "Of course you've heard of the pyjama craze here. Well, its more than a craze now. The women are wearing very elaborate pyjama suits at the beach, in restaurants, for automobile riding, and at a very formal ball given by Mrs Vincent As lor, two weeks ago, Muriel \ underbill Church arrived in flesh-coloured pyjamas, cut very low at the neck and trimmed with rhinestones ! She looked beautiful, and by the sensation she created, 1 won't lie surprised if pyjamas become very popular as a dance "frock." "The men have been, so far, confining their pyjamas to the beach, yachting, etc., but I heard of ail advenlurious male in Boston striding down .the main slreet in lavender pyjamas lasl Saturday. And, of course, the papers are full of letters from "indignant Citizens,’’ condemning the fad, and asking if we are reverting back to effeminate Rome. One paper says, "Next year these men will, no doubt, be wearing high heels and ruffles in their baby-blue pyjamas!”
