DEFINITION OF MAORI. DISSATISFACTION AMONG NATIVES WELLINGTON, Thursday. At a meeting of the committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union Mr. K. Tahiwi stated that lhe union’s decision defining a Maori as not less than a half-caste had caused dissatisfaction among the natives. Mr. Dean said a line of demarcation had to be drawn somewhere. If they were going to have a Maori team it should be a pure native team. It was pointed out that the union had given its ruling and there was a resolution on the subject, which must stand.
