FALL FROM TRAIN
MRS LEAHY’S DEATH.
VERDICT OF ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association > WAIMATE, Friay. At the inquest concerning the death of Mrs P. D. Leahy, who fell from the express train near St. Andrews on October 5, the evidence showed that deceased had felt sick and had gone out on to the carriage platform for [fresh air. The platform gates were closed previously, but when approaching St. Andrews Mrs Leahy was seen leaning out with a handkerchief to her- mouth,. Presumably she opened the gate to vomit clear of the train and as she had been suffering from faint turns recently apparently she had fainted and fallen out on to her head, fracturing the skull and dying within a minute of the arrival of the station oiTicer. The coroner returned a verdict that death was accidently caused through falling from a train.
Deceased was the wife of Mr. P. D. Leahy, who recently took up his duties as deputy-registrar of the Supreme Court at Hamilton. She had intended to join tier husband in Hamilton within a few days.
