FIGHT WITH BANDITS.
A FIERCE ENCOUNTER.
POLICE SERGEANT KILLED
(By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) •NEW YORK, October 9. There was a tragic sequel this evening to the robbery at a roadhouse near Chicago last Sunday. A party of police went to the headquarters of the gang concerned in the outrage and a fierce fight ensued. The police bombarded Ihe members of the gang in their rooms with machine guns and the robbers .returned the fire with revolvers. Police Sergeant Leo Fox, of the Lansing force, was killed, as was Walter Warzinsky, aged 22, the leader of the bandits. Three others were wounded.
