WORK FOR EX-SOLDIERS
THE PARTLY DISABLED.
SCOPE OF INQUIRY. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The order of reference for the inquiry which is to he held shortly into the question of providing such work for partially disabled ex-service men, as will enable them to live without the aid of tlie economic pensions, has been drafted, and the details will 'be announced by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. T. M. Wilford, in a day or so.
i In an interview this evening, the I Minister said that the commission, :in order to arrive at comprehensive I recommendations, would have to travel the country and take evidence at the four centres. This evidence would, Jbe collected by the branches of the I Returned Soldiers’ Association, which I w'ere preparing the way for the coming l of the commission. The Government 1 feels that if the men who are receiving the economic pensions can be found employment appropriate to their physical condition, the men would be happier and more hopeful. : “The commission will also investigate the cases of those who, although neither partially nor totally disabled, are, as a result of war service, unable to maintain themselves.’’
