The settlers of Mangaiti limd a public meeting to consider the attitude of the Health Department and the Borough Council in connection with their allegation of pollution of the Waihou River from the Te Aroha borough. Mr F. M. Strange, who presided, read correspondence from the Board of Health to the effect that it had called on the Borough Council to cease discharging untreated sewage into the river. He said he presumed the council had received the letter. The meeting decided to call on the Government to revoke the declaration of the river as a sludge channel.
