ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
WEBSTER SHIELD. WELLINGTON BEATS WAIKATO. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. In the final of the Webster Shield tournament, the weather conditions were good, and a large crowd witnessed the keenest game of the tournament, Waikato versus Wellington. Waikato won the toss and Wellington kicked off. The latter pressed for a time but clever defending by Topliss relieved. Waikato then pressed and a shot by ,Boyd entered the net, off-side being given. The homesters scored from a - penalty and Waikato set to and bombarded the home-goal, until the interval brought relief lo Wellington. After the interval Waikato showed great play, equalising after clever work. Berry scored. Waikato pressed hard and were the best team. A penalty was given against Waikato for hands, and Wellington scored from same. The referee lacked in his judgment and Waikato, although the best team, was beaten. The final score was Wellington 2 Waikato i Points Scored.
