The Auckland Trotting Club’s Earthquake Relief Meeting was held to-day in fine weather before a big attend- ’ ance. Rangitero stayed on in good style to get the verdict by three-quarters of a length from Peterson, who was six , lengths in front of Sweet Memory. Peter Bingen was fourth and then came Nelson Tasker, Jewel Pointer and Tony Victor. Times, 2.49 1-5, 2.52 3-5, 2.50 3-5. OTAHUHU TROTTING CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. AUCKLAND, Saturday. The annual meeting of members of the Otahuhu Trotting Club was held yesterday. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the loss oa the past year’s operations, amounting to £3557, made up as follows:—Loss on race meetings, £1837, and cost of upkeep of the club's property at Otahuhu, including interest, course and tracks, £1720. The stakes given by the club last season amounted to £14,100, but, on the totalisator turnover, the stakes which the club was compelled to give for the coming season would amount to £9600. It was the intention of the committee to reduce the stakes by £4IOO. Even with this reduction the club would be giving £IO,OOO in stakes for four days’ racing, so that the stakes would still be substantial. It was stated that the club intended to race on its course at Otahuhu after the present season. EARTHQUAKE RELIEF MEETING. TAXATION REMITTED. WELLINGTON, Friday. Government taxation will be remitted on the trotting meeting to be held in Auckland to-morrow in aid of the earthquake relief funds. The concession was finally agreed to to-day by the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, in his capacity as Minister of Stamp Duties, following earnest representations by Mr G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland.
