NOT EASY TO WIN

RACES IN AUSTRALIA. There appears to be an impression In our Dominion that races aro easily won In Australia. At the very small meetings such may be the case, but whon It come 3 to such gatherings as Warwick Farm, Canterbury Park and Rosehill, a horse, to win, wants to be a fair sort, says a Taranaki writer who recently visited Sydney. He adds: The invasion of Australia by Now Zealand horses this year (ovor fifty have been sent across) has set the tonguos wagging of the Australian racegoers, and they expect our representatives to reap a rich harvest, as they claim Australia Is weakly represented Just now. While New Zealand horses look certain to win some stake money, It cannot be claimed (If we except two or three) that they are a good lot. They certainly fall far short of tho “classy” teams taken there by R. J. Mason.
