THE KEA MENACE.
DISCUSSED BY SHEEP FARMERS. VALUE OF ADVERTISING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The kea came into prominence at the Sheepfarmers’ Conference, when the bird was described as a real menace. In the Lake county alone it was stated that 8000 had been killed and paid for in the last ten years. Mr Jessep (Hawke’s Bay) said protests against the lifting of the subsidy should be supported. To listen to sentimental trash was nonsense. A clause in the report dealing with the matter was adopted. The question of advertising woollen wear created a long discussion, the view being taken that manufacturers should help. The amount of advertisement artificial silk is receiving in the Dominion is being stressed, also the proved value of advertisement in any sort of goods.
