LEAGUE FOOTBALL

HAMILTON AND TAUPIRI. DRAWN GAME RESULTS. A PATCHY EXHIBITION. (By “Verax.”) The League game between Hamilton and Taupiri, at Ilinemoa Park, was not a very exciting and interesting exhibition. Taupiri opened up the scoring, and had registered eight points before Hamilton opened their total. The scoring was very even right throughout the game, which ended in a nineteen point draw, and, although there were some well-timed and bright moments, altogether the game was disappointing. For Hamilton, Gilmer and Paget were perhaps the most consistent players, while Ritchie and Ilogan also did good work. Kumarich opened some good movements which gained much territory and paved the way for at least one try. L. Muir was right off his usual form in the first half ol the game, but in the second spell he used his knowledge to good account on several occasions. Papeseh was right on form and played a sound game. He was also numbered among the scorers. Vernall did not get many opportunities, but those which came his way he followed up well, and was a handy man. Mclnally was prominent in several movements, but was not outstanding. For the Taupiri side S. Muir played his usual good game, and was responsible for a good try. Taylor did some good work, and was always prominent in the attacks. Bravo initiated several smart movements and played a sound defensive game. The forwards did not combine as well as they might have done, but, nevertheless, they penetrated the Hamilton defence on more than one occasion. THE OTAGO TEAM. The following team will represent Otago against Wellington on Saturday:—Backs: Nicholson, Webb, McGlymont, Wilson, Fookes, Bradanovich, Bathgate; forwards: Souter, Douglas, Sonntag, Carnegie, Collett, Ilorc, Glendining, Scott (wing).
