NO BLUFFING.
MR SNOWDEN’S STAND. ENDORSED BY CABINET. STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER. (Sydney Sun Cable.) (Received Aug. 12, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 11. The Daily Mail’s Lossiemouth correspondent says that Mr Ramsay MacDonald, in a statement to-night, said in view of the statements which have been widely made on the Continent, that Mr Snowden is bluffing: “I want to make It perfectly clear that hl3 claims that Britain ha 3 now come to the limit of bearing unfair burdens had all our support. I stated so irrespective of parties.” The Daily Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent at The Hague, reveals that Mr Snowden’s policy was unanimously approved of by the Cabinet after careful consideration. If Mr Ramsay MacDonald went to The Hague, as it was rumoured, it would be for the purpose of backing up the Chancellor. The whole country has shown that it thoroughly endorses his stand. The Continental cry that peace in Europe would be endangered in the event of a disagreement is regarded as a melodramatic exaggeration. The absurdity of the suggestion is evident because in the event of a failure of the conference the Dawes Plan would jjtiil continue in operation.
