SIRES OF THE SEASON

PAPER MONEY'S BIG LEAD. During the racing of 1928-29 Paper Money’s stock had a remarkably successful season, scoring 22 more wins than his nearest rival and well over £SOOO more in stakes. Lucullus’ stock are in second place. The leaders on the sires’ list are as follows: —

NUKUMAI’S Trt:? CANCELLED. WELLINGTON, Friday. Practically the last of the North Island horses left for the South tonight. In addition there were Air Laddie, Fine Acre and Maui on the steamer. Nukumai did not put in an appearance. It is understood he went lame when walking from Foxton to Levin to be railed to Wellington and his trip was cancelled. ,

EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. ALEXANDRA PARK MEETING. The programme issued by the Auckland Trotting Club in connection with the earthquake relief meeting, which is fixed to be held at Alexandra Park on Saturday, August 31, is cast on lines calculated to ensure a capital list of entries. The sum allotted in prizemoney to the seven events amounts to £1825. The leading event is the Westport Handicap of £SOO, and a trophy donated by A. Kohn, Ltd., valued at £55 is attached. The Nelson District Handicap is worth £3OO, and the trophy attached, donated by Walker and Hall, is valued at £4O.
