GIRLS AND LIQUOR.

. (To the Editor.) Sir,—“Pater” In your issue of Friday makes helpful comment anent the above, and states that, In his opinion, the cause of the present trend is that girls have entered into greater freedom and are at a loss as to how to use It; therefore they mistake liberty for license and are inclined to go to excess. There is logic in the reasoning. The problem is to find the remedy. I agree with your correspondent “Prophet” that influences have been at work undermining the foundations upon which our social structure has been erected, and the fell results are now becoming apparent. What is needed is to confirm those things that remain lest we go from bad to worse. The responsibility of the blind guides Is great.—l am, etc., R.E.A.
