STOCK SALES.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. PIG PRICES IMPROVED. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. The weekly stock sale held at the Frankton stock sale yards yesterday was not very largely attended. Beef was yarded in average numbers arid realised prices on a par with the previous week’s rates. Sheen came forward in fair numbers and quotations were slightly easier. A better yarding of fat pigs was penned and stores were also yarded in large numbers, the prices all round showing a decided increase. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At the weekly stock market in the Frankton yards yesterday we had an average yarding of fat cattle. All classes of prime quality beef met with keen competition, and sold at late rates. There was also a good demand for fat sheep, fat hoggets selling at increased prices. We quote: Fat bullocks, £l3 to £l4 2s 6d; medium fat bullocks, £ll 4s to £l2 10s; fat cows, £9 15s to £ll 16s; medium fat cows, £8 7s 6d to £9 10s;. light, £6 15s to £7 12s 6d; forward, £5 5s to £6 10s; store cows, £4 to £5 10s; yearling Jersey heifers, mixed colours, £4 5s to £5 8s; yearling steers, £3 ils. Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and. Mercantile Agency Comptmy, Limited, Hamilton, report:—At Frankton sale yesterday we had a good ent-y of fat cattle and sheep. Fat pigs were penned in lesser numbers while our entry of store pigs was again a large one. Prices all round were on a par with previous sales. We quote:— Fat cows, £lO 14s to £ll 10s; medium fat cows, £9 9s to £lO 7s; light cows, £7 5s to £8 10s; store cows, £4 10s to £6; fat wethers, £1 15s 6d to £1 17s 6d; light, fat, £1 7s 6d to £1 9s 6d; good wether hoggets, £1 7s 3d. Heavy baconers, £3 18s to £4 ss; medium, £3 5s to £3 10s; light and heavy porkers, £2 15s to £3; porkers, £2 2s to £2 10s; stores, £1 10s to £1 17s 6d; slips, 19s to £i ss. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Limited, report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday as under: —There was an average yarding of beef which iriet with good demand at last week’s rates. We sold heavy bullocks on account of Mr E. W. R. Leslie at up to £l7 2s 6d, also heifers and young cows at an average of £l2, the highest making £l3 ss. Extra prime heifers at up to £l2 15s; ordinary young fat cows, £9 to £lO 15s; inferior fat cows, £6 5s to £7 6s; small Jersey cows and heifers, £5 10s. There was a moderate yarding of store cattle which met with good competition. We sold a pen of good quality polled and Shorthorn steers rising 2 years, £8 17s; a pen of light store cows, £5 6s; a pen of Hereford and Polled Angus cows, £7 12s 6d; Jersey heifers, £4 10s. There was a moderate yarding of sheep. Fat sheep sold at late rates. Extra heavy prime wethers made up to 39s 6d; medium wethers, 36s 3d; light and unfinished wethers, 31s 9d; fat hoggets to 29s 6d; a pen of good hoggets, 265. Fat pigs improved in prices while stores sold at late rates and there was good competition. We quote: —Heavy baconers, £3 16s to £4 7s; medium baconers, £3 5s to £3 12s; choppers, £2 15s to £5 is; porkers, £2 8s to £2 16s; light porkers, £1 19s to £2 ss; light stores, £1 16s to £2 9s; slips, £1 2s to £1 10s; weaners, 14s to 18s; small weaners, 10s to 12s. G. W. Vercoo & CO., Ltd. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday when H medium yarding of beef came forward. ' On account of a client two particularly prime heavy fat bullocks realised’ £l7 5s and £l7, both beius purchased by Mr F. Woodhall, ol Hamilton. We quote.—Extra prim 6 heavy fat bullocks, £l7 to £l7 ss; medium fat bullocks, £l3 7s 6d to £l4 15s; light fat bullocks, £l2 15s. The quality of cow beef yarded by us was very plain. Heavy fat cows, £8 15s to £9 14s; lighter fat cows, £7 15s to £8 12s 6d; light fat cows, £6 5s to £7 10s; medium weight fat heifers, £6 2s 6d to £6 10s. Store cows came forward in fair numbers, fresh conditioned cows selling from £4 to £5 ss; boner cows, £2 15s to £3 10s; Shorthorn steer calves, £4 ss; Jersey cross heifer calves (small), £3 10s. A heavy yarding fat sheep came forward, sales generally being hard to make. Prime heavy fat wethers sold from 38s to 38s Od; fat hoggets, 21s. Fat Pigs came forward in small numbers. Medium baconers realised frem £3 3s to £3 9s; heavy porkers, £2 15s to £3; light porkers, £1 18s to £2 10s; store pigs were penned in large numbers, forward stores selling from 3‘2s 6d to 365; others, 26s to 31s; weaners, good, 17s to 19s; others, 15s to 16s 6d. Bobby calves came forward as usual in large numbers. Best calves, 10s to 15s; others, 6s 6d to 9s.
