LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

MORRIN CUP MATCH. ■ WIN FOR NGARUAWAHIA. (By “Verax.”) In the League game between Hamilton (holders), and Ngaruawahla (challengers), played at Hinemoa Park on Saturday, the challengers defeated Hamilton by a substantial margin, and took the Morrin Gup home. The successful side were superior in every department, especially in their passing, and were continually round the Hamilton goal line, although the home thirteen .were first to register. The Ngaruawahia full-back, Hill, played a sound defensive game, although he was not often called upon. The backs and the forwards combined ■splendidly, and their tactics were too smart for their opponents. The star of the visitors’ team was the captain, Mcnzies, who opened several scoring attacks, and was himself a prominent scorer. Benjamin was a safe player, and stemmed several Hamilton rushes. Abbott was the first scorer for Ngaruawahia, and did good work in most of the visitors’ movements. G. Tittleton played an excellent game, and paved the way for more than one successful attack. The forwards did all that was expected -of them, and secured the ball from the scrums on most occasions. The Hamilton Thirteen. S. Muir, the full-uack, saved on a number of occasions, and was a useful kick.

J. Muir was the pick of the backs, and was easily the best player for Hamilton. He was prominent in ail Hamilton attacks, and played a good defensive game.

’ Jones did some useful' 'work, and undoubtedly saved his side from a heavier defeat.

Graham justified his inclusion in the team, although he made several slips. Nevertheless he was a handy man.

Vcrnall was not outstanding, although he was not slow to follow up an opening, and was responsible for a try in the second half of Ihc game. Hogan and L. Muir were the best of ihc forwards. Although their combination was not up to the standard of that of the visitors, the Hamilton forwards gave the Ngaruawahia side some anxious moments at some stages of the game.
