SECOND MATCH OF SEASON. AUCKLAND PLAY ON SATURDAY The second challenge of the season for the Ranfurly Shield will bo played at Carterton on Saturday next when Auckland will meet Walrarapa, The latter, who are the holders of tho trophy, successfully defended It on July 20 when they defeated Hawko’s Bay by 1.0 points to 6 points. Auckland’s prospects of lifting tho trophy are looked upon In a favourable light by supporters of the northern team, but they will find the opposition very firm. Under fine weather conditions the game should be very closely contested and It would not surprise the writer to find the Shield changing hands on Saturday.
