CHRISTCHURCH FIRES.
ALL STREETS PROTECTED. CITY AND SUBURBS PATROLLED DETECTIVE FORCE STRENGTHENED / (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Already the number of detectives In Christchurch has been considerably Increased, and for more effectively coping with the incendiarism the force has been divided Into two distinct corps.
Inspector Rawle, of Wellington, will direct the efforts to trace the perpetrators of the recent outbreaks. This Is the first time In the history of the Dominion that an Inspector has boen placed In charge of a detective branch for such a purpose. The city and suburbs are being patrolled night and day by a small army of pofioe officers and detectives, motor cars, motor cycles, and bicycles being used for transport. It is claimed that there Is not an unprotected street In the whole of the city area.
ANOTHER OUTBREAK. LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Another fire occurred in the city at 8 o’clock this evening. The brigade was called to the stables of F. Truscott, saddler, at the corner of Lichfield and Durham Streets. Little damage was done, as the brigade was on the scene before the Are gathered strength.
