MOTORISTS’ FINES.
SIMPLER METHOD NEEDED. HAMILTON RECOMMENDATION. A “cash and carry” court is being tried by the Government of New South Wales. This is to obviate the difficulty now experienced by the motorist who wishes to plead guilty to some Infringement of the law and who does not like wasting time in a queue awaiting his turn to be called. Motorists admitting minor breaches will be notified of the fine payable in each case without the necessity of going to the court and will be permitted to settle the matter and remit the fine by post. The matter was brought to the notice of the Hamilton agency of the Automobile Association last night, when it was agreed something simpler than the present system in New Zealand was needed.
It was decided to recommend the Auckland council of the Association to consider h simpler method to enable motorists who desire to admit breaches of the motor regulations and by-laws to pay their ’fines.
