VISITORS’ DAY. TREMENDOUS CROWDS. AUCKLAND, Monday. Only the massive steel gates at the entrance to Central Wharf prevented a stampede and chaos when the German cruiser Emden was open for public inspection yesterday afternoon. Disappointed thousands surged in Quay Street, and several times the gate bolts threatened to yield to tha pressure.
