POSITION AT LISMORE.
RIVERS’ ABNORMAL RISE. MANY TRAPPED IN THEIR HOMES, (By Telegraph Press Copyright.) (Australian Press Asoooiatlon) (Received July 1, 115 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 1. Advices from Lismore state that the Richmond river Is rising rapidly, and Is now 29 feet above normal. About eight families have abandoned their homes. Two hundred houses in various parts of the town are surrounded by water. On Saturday a 70 mile per hour gale struck the district, driving before It torrential rain, resulting In flooded creeks and rivers. At Lismore many people were trapped In their homes, and several are missing. Fire added to the terror at Ealllna. The flames, fanned by the gale gutted the principal business section. The damage Is estimated at £30,000. Eight Inches of rain fell at Lisborne in 43 hours- A lull In the storm removed Immediate danger.
