CYCLE RUNS INTO TRAP,

CHRISTCHURCH, Monday
As a result of a collision at Sockburn yesterday a family of four and another man, all occupants of a motor-cycle and side-chair, were admitted to hospital with serious injuries as follows ::—■ James G. Potter, a labourer (34), condition satisfactory.
Annie Potter ,(34, wife), James Potter (9), Noel Potter (7), and Benjamin Henry Bright (52), condition still serious, with head wounds. The machine collided with a horse and trap.

TRIED TO AVOID COLLISION

According to Potter, driver of the motor-cycle, the party were returning to the city at a moderate speed when he suddenly saw a gig ahead going in the same direction.
He swerved, but it was too late, the wheel of the trap being struck between the cycle and the side-chair. His family were thrown forward on the road.
