HAPPY EVENING SPENT.

VARIOUS TOASTS HONOURED.

“It is the most enjoyable evening we have spent since we left Otago,’’ said a member of the touring farmers party in thanking those Hamiltonians who entertained them at a social evening at Almadale Private Hotel last night. The host of the evening was Mr Alec Mcßae. A large gathering of visitors was present. Messrs J. Parlane and J. Gilbert proposed the toast of the farmers, and Mr Clarke, of Otago, replied. Various other toasts were honoured. A fine entertainment was provided by the following;—songs, Mrs T. Watson and Messrs R. Blackie, W. Fenton, T. Watson; recitations, B. Pence, -T. Parlane. Mr R. Gibb acted as accompanist. A dainty supper was provided, and the visitors left after expressing profuse thanks.
