DAIRY PAY-OUTS.

THE APRIL SUPPLY. TE AWAMUTU. The Te Awamutu Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., made 53 tons of butler in April, compared with 38 tons for the same month last year. The output for the eleven rnonllis to dale is 740 tons, compared with 471 lons last season, '[’lie average butter grade for the month was 92.07.

The company is making a cash advance payment of Is 4|d per lb. butlerfat- for finest quality cream supplied in April, and shareholders will he credited with an additional |d per lb. The amount of the cash'payment is £6057, compared with £4599 last year, when the rate of advance was Is 4d. The total amount paid for the season to date is £97,124, compared with £57,386 last year. COMPULSORY CREAM GRADING. REC U LATIONS AMEND ED. A new regulation of interest to dairy farmers comes into effect on June 1. On December 21, certain amendments to the general regulations under the Dairy Industry Act were gazetted, and an important change was made in the system of compulsory cream grading at dairy factories. Clause 18 of the principal regulations was amended by the addition to sab-clause 1 of the following proviso:— “Provided that during the months of June, July and August in each year in the North Island, and June, July, August and September in eacli year, in the South Island, there sliaiL lie only two grades known as “first” grade and “second” grade respectively, and Hie definition for first grade cream during such respective periods shall be cream of a quality above second grade as defined in Clause 25.” The effect of this amendment is to prohibit dairy companies from giving “finest” quality for any cream supplied in the months mentioned.
