Mrs S. Cooper, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs P. G. Russell, in Hamilton, has returned to Auckland.

Miss Janet Crabbe, of Feilding, is staying in Hamilton with Mrs A. H. Tompkins.

Miss Ella Mackereth, of Roto-o-rangi, spent the week-end in Maungatautari, as the guest of Miss I. Meeking.
Miss L. Hay, of St. Cuthbert's College, Auckland, is spending the vacations with Mrs E. J. Peake, of Maungatautari.
Miss M. Hicks, of Maungatautari, is spending a holiday in Auckland.
Mesdames 0. N. Coverdale (Te Kawa), and E. R. Hodge (Wanganui) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
A dance - in aid of the Claudelands Queen is being held this evening in the Fairfield School Hall. The supper is being prepared by the ladies of the district and music will be supplied by Hildreth’s Orchestra.
Among recent guests at the Empire Hotel have been Mesdames L. Murray (Suva), J. Byrch (North Canterbury), L. Janson (Auckland) and G. Drury (Opotiki), and Miss Irene Jurd (New Plymouth).
The marriage was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Auckland, on Tuesday morning, between Mr F. C. Rauch, of the Auckland Grammar School staff, and Miss Winnie Cotter, of Matamata.
An enjoyable snowball tea was given by Mrs F. Bullock on Monday in honour of the Hamilton West Queen, Mrs Pinfold. A jolly time was spent, and the. time passed all too quickly. The carnival competition was' won by Mrs Sinclair Arthur. Those present were Mesdames F. House, A. W. Green, J. Pratt, F. Burley, S. Arthur, G. Seifert, E. Reeves, C. Hun f? ‘yid J. Treloar.
Although the weather was most inclement on Tuesday night, the card evening in aid of the Vrankton Queen was a great success. Those who braved the elements were well rewarded, a most enjoyable evening being spent. Mrs O’Brien and Mr E. Carde were the successful players, Mrs Muir and Mr Bliss being awarded consolation prizes.
The death occurred at Napier recently of Miss Anne Maria Williams, at the age of 90. The late Miss Williams was the eldest surviving daughter of the late Bishop William Williams, vrst Bishop of Waiapu, and sister of the late Bishop Leonard Williams, first Bishop of Waiapu, and station, Bay of Islands, the late Miss Williams at an early age assisted in the work of the Maori girls’ school attached to Bishop Williams’ mission station at Wairenga-a-hika. Throughout her whole life she was deeply attached to the work- of the Church of England, and devoted practically her whole labours to the welfare of the Maoris.
