The New American Ambassador to Britain, Brigadier-General Charles G. Dawes, is to be the guest of the President, Mr H. G. Hoover, at White, House on Wednesday, lie has had a | series of conferences with the Presi- | dent and Mr 11. L. Stimson, Secretary | of State, prior to assuming hi 3 diplo- J matic duties in London, where he expected to arrive shortly after the ! British elections. J Mr Dawes’ first assignment is to 1 familiarise himself with all angles of* the naval armaments situation, which is considered the foremost problem with which he will be associated. War debt and reparations questions come second on the list, and it is felt here that , also bulking largely in all the new Ambassador’s work will be the task of bettering Anglo-American relations.
