The important extensions of the trans-continental air services to be made this summer will amplify and accelerate London’s aerial communications with foreign capitals. Working in conjunction with Die air lines of Europe the British air chiefs will concentrate tliis year upon the development of night Hying operations and upon spreading yet further afield the long-distance network from Croydon. That London air station is now one of the world's most elaborately equipped terminal aerodromes. Air liners will fly from Croydon this summer to every capital in Europe. In tile preparation of plans for the great mail lines much valuable knowledge has been gained from the first weeks of the operation of the longest airway in the world, namely, the 5000mile route flown weekly by air liners of imperial Airways, Limited, between London and India. The service is attracting greatly-increased business eacli week. Un Saturday. the weekly air mail from' London lo India reached the record figure of more than 16,000 letters. The air mail from India consisted of 20.000 letters, it left Karachi on the previous Sunday and arrived at Croydon yesterday. Although bad weather conditions were experienced on the last 500 miles the mail was only 15 minutes late. Within the last fortnight the amount of air-borne outgoing Indian mail has Ijoen nearly doubled as a reward lor consistent regularity. Willi one exception, when it was three hours late in covering Die 5000 miles, Die Indian air mail lias arrived at its destination a few minutes before or after the scheduled lime.
