SOCIETY DRESSMAKER

(By a correspondent.) The Home Secretary's daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joynson-Hicks, is one of the latest additions to the ever-growing list of well-known women who sell frocks. She and Lord Downe's sister, the Hon. Faith Dawnay, have just become associated in a smart dressing establishment in St. James’ Street — Ihe first in that, very exclusive neighbourhood, 1 believe —and are inviting their friends to a mannequin parade shortly. Mrs. Hoare, General Featherslonhaugh’s daughter, is also in this dressmaking venture. I don’t know whether “Jix” has seenjhe invitation letters which have gone out, but mine distinctly stales that there “will be cocktails to cheer you, cigarettes to soothe you, and a warm welcome to greet you.” It will be very interesting to see Mrs. Joynson-Hicks in the role of mannequin. She is a smart, at-tractive-looking girl, and is heart and soul in her shopkeeping experiment.
