FRAUD AND THEFT.
YOUNG MAN PLEADS GUILTY. TWO YEARS’ REFORMATIVE. (By Telegraph.—Press ’Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. “ Accused has taken down everyone he met," said the probation officer of John Herbert Tonking, aged 28, a salesman, who pleaded guilty to ten - charges of theft and false pretences in connection with the sale of cutlery. Prisoner was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention. Counsel said the man had been sent out from England by his relatives to improve his health.
