The Spanish Dictator, General Primo de Rivera, was interviewed by the Madrid correspondent of the Daily Mail. He recited his measures for the defeat of the anti-Government campaign, which he said was “ stimulated by financiers who fish in troubled waters and see the finish of their illicit profits brought about by renascence of Spain’s vitality." General de Rivera categorically recounted Ids plans for the economic reorganisation of Spain. He said King Alfonso and the nation would decide upon his successor when he retired. The Madrid correspondent of the Times says a demonstration organised by General de Rivera’s supporters passed off uneventfully, it was well organised and included a large patriotic procession of people representing Madrid and the provinces. Many women took part. The Dictator had three •of his speeches broadcast. In these he proclaimed his faith in the Dictatorship. It is understood that more than 1,000,000 declarations of fealty were received. The Paris correspondent of the Daily News reports that messages from Madrid indicate that the Dictator’s recent actions have left many sections of society boiling with indignation. Huge posters bearing the words:— “ Down With the Dictator; Long Live the Republic,” are being plastered up in the principal streets. This correspondent says the resentment occasioned by General de Rivera’s restrictions must shortly lead to a crisis.
