CRICKET.

WAIKATO COMPETITIONS. RESUMED ON SATURDAY. The Cricket Association’s competitions will be resumed on Saturday next, after a spell of three weeks. The first round in the Senior grade has been completed, and is in a most interesting stage. Hamilton East and Old Boys are leading, with 8 points, closely followed by Frankton, with 7 points. W’hen Old Boys and Frankton met in the last round Old Boys had a narrow victory by one wicket, and as Frankton recently defeated Hamilton East they may avenge their loss of the first round. Old Boys will be without the services of their captain, Senior, and Frankton will be without E. Everest, whose bowling has greatly strengthened the Frankton team. Hamilton East and Hamilton will meet on No. 1 wicket. Hamilton is a rapidly improving team, due to its younger members gaining confidence, and with M. Winger hack again may make Hamilton East fight it out to the very last. Fortunes are somewhat fluctuating in the Senior B grade, with the old rivals Y.M.C.A. and Old Boys being perhaps a shade better than the other teams, but at, this stage it is exceedingly difficult to pick the champion team. High School, owing to the holidays, will not he fielding a team, so Frankton will win by default.

Cambridge B is the leading team in the Junior grade, but the Technical School team is performing remarkably well for their first season in Saturday competitions, w’hilc Y.M.C.A. has had several victories of merit, and as this team meets Cambridge B it is possible that the winning sequence of Cambridge B may be broken. The following is the draw: — Senior A. Hamilton v. Hamilton East, at Seddon Park No. 1; Frankton v. Old Boys, at Seddon Park No. 2. Senior B. Hamilton East v. Y.M.C.A., at Seddon Park No. 3; Frankton v. High School at High School; Ngaruawahia v. Railway at Railway grounds; Old Boys v. Huntly, at Huntly. Juniors. Old Bovs v. Hamilton East, at Seddon Park, No. 4; Y.M.C.A. v. Cambridge 8., at Steele Park No. 1; Frankton v. Cambridge A, at Cambridge.
